Jamie Westbrook

Westbrook is a distant cousin of former NFL running back Brian Westbrook, and scouts love his makeup, leadership and drive. He has a tightly wound, musuclar build at 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds and shows a fast, compact righthanded swing. He has a good feel for hitting and will drive the ball into the gaps, with enough bat speed to hit 10 home runs a season. Defensively, he shows solid actions and has above-average arm strength, but will need to lower his arm slot to get more carry on his throws. While he's a shortstop now, most scouts say he'll wind up at second base. Scouts are also split on whether it's worth signing Westbrook away from college. As one of the top students in his class, he is considered a tough sign from Pepperdine.
